Skin eBx

While most cases of skin cancer can be successfully treated through surgical excision, many patients can eliminate the need for surgery and achieve more aesthetically-pleasing results through radiotherapy with eBx.

 

This new technology called electronic brachytherapy holds potential to change the face of high dose rate brachytherapy and may change the way radiation therapy is provided. With electronic brachytherapy, radiation can be turned on and off at the push of a button, without using radioactive sources. It is also commonly performed on patients who are not ideal candidates for surgery, including those who take blood thinining medication.

 

This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with only minimal shielding requirements. During treatment, the treatment area is prepared with a small shield before the Axxent® Skin Applicator is applied to the skin to deliver radiation therapy for just a few minutes. This advanced treatment requires fewer visits than traditional radiation therapy.
